There’s lots more festive fun to be had this weekend.  Try some chocolates, lots of Christmas markets, find out about space or control the rain, indoors…

Chocolate Festival, Southbank Centre Square, 11am to 8pm Saturday 8 December and 11am to 6pm Sunday 9 December 2012

The Southbank Centre is the place to be for chocoholics this weekend.  The Chocolate Festival, which will take place in the Southbank Centre Square, is a gastronomic celebration of all things chocolate, including demonstrations and tastings. The perfect opportunity to pick up Christmas gifts – from luxury chocolates to cocoa butter beauty products. Free. More details here.

Eat Me Up Christmas Market, Red Market, Old Street, 11am to 11pm, Saturday 8 December 2012

The Eat Me Up Christmas Market is due to take place this weekend in Shoreditch.  Head along to pick up some street food, Mulled wine and local brews; browse stalls from local designers and retailers; participate in street art workshops; or enjoy some live music. Free. More details here.

Random International: Rain Room, Barbican Centre, 11am to 8pm daily, until 3 March 2013

Ever wanted to be in control of the weather?  The Rain Room installation at the Barbican Centre gives visitors the opportunity to control the rain and to feel like they are in the middle of a downpour without getting wet.  Free – arrive early to avoid a long queue.  More details here.

Horniman Museum Christmas Fayre, 10.30am to 5.30pm, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December 2012

Things are getting festive at the Horniman Museum this weekend.  There’s a lot going on including a Christmas market, fair trade and ethical market, carol concert on the Bandstand, children’s activities, mulled wine and hot food stalls. Free. More details here.

European Space Expo, Horse Guards Parade, 10am to 6pm, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December 2012

The European Commission has launched the European Space Expo to show how space and its applications provide benefits to Europe’s citizens. The Expo will highlight the critical role of the European Union in space and space-based technologies.  Visitors to the Expo can see, touch and experience the wide range of innovative technologies and services that space offers them. Winter Festive Weekend, Mudchute City Farm, 11am to 3pm, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December 2012

Pop down to Mudchute, London’s largest city farm, for festive fun this weekend.  There will be activities for all ages, from arts and crafts and a carousel for the children, to falconry and blacksmithing for adults. Father Christmas will be visiting and there will be a living Nativity scene on Sunday. Entry is free, but some activities will require a small donation.  More details here.
