This weekend: more festivals and the Great River Race…

Thames Festival, until Sunday 15 September 2013

This year the Thames Festival has been extended from the usual weekend extravaganza to a whole ten days of excitement along the riverside. There will be a carnival, arts, music and more. Check out the website for more details here.

National Paralympic Day, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, 12pm to 8pm, Saturday 7 September 2013

This weekend marks the first anniversary of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Head to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for a day of celebrations including disability sports, arts and family activities. Free. More details here.

The Great River Race, from 12.10pm, Saturday 7 September 2013

Watch over 300 crews from around the world compete to race 21 miles from London Docklands to Ham in Surrey this Saturday afternoon. From serious contenders to fancy dress competitors, it will be a great spectacle to behold. Free to watch along the route. Starts at 12.10pm. More details here.

Community Festivals, various locations

Look out for local community festivals happening this weekend on Wandsworth Common on Saturday and on Chrisp Street (Poplar), Caledonian Road and Muswell Hill on Sunday. A festival in Stratford and the Peckham and Nunhead film festival will be taking place all weekend.
