What’s on at the weekend? – 6, 7 June 2015

It must be almost summer as this weekend is all about festivals – you can celebrate the oceans, the great outdoors, love, or just have lunch…

Gardens Festival, Horniman Museum and Gardens, 12pm to 4pm, Sunday 7 June 2015

Get festive at the Horniman Museum and Gardens this weekend. The family event is inspired by the Horniman Gardens. The programme includes: live music performances by the London Vegetable Orchestra and African Tree on the Bandstand; tours of the Horniman Gardens sundials and garden storytelling; and workshops to create your own seed bomb, a carrot recorder or a miniature garden. Free. More details here

Family Fun Weekend: The Great Wave, Cutty Sark, 11.30pm to 1.30pm and 2pm to 4pm, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 2015

Hear the stories of characters on board the Cutty Sark and help recreate a huge wave that crashed over the ship in June 1881 at this weekend’s family fun event celebrating World Ocean Day. Included in the normal admission price. More details here

Southbank Centre Festival of Love, until 31 August 2015

Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love 2015 opens this weekend with new indoor and outdoor art installations, music, performances, family activities, pop-ups, markets, interactive artworks, exhibitions, workshops and more. Much of the festival is free. Check out the festival programme here

The Big Lunch, various locations, Sunday 7 June 2015

Get to know your neighbours better this weekend at one of the many street parties and community lunches happening as part of the annual Big Lunch.
