What’s on at the weekend? – 5, 6 September 2015

Everyone may be going back to school, but there are still a few late-Summer festivals (and a beach) to be had this weekend… 

Totally Thames Festival, throughout September 2015

The Totally Thames Festival starts this week, heralding a month of river-related activities and celebrations. On Saturday you can access London beach at Tower Bridge (12.30pm to 2.30pm), hunt for artefacts on the foreshore and have them identified by experts. On Saturday and Sunday (12pm to 7pm) there is a Riverside Festival on Potters Fields with live music, food, activities, crafts and more. Plus, don’t miss Columbia Day on Sunday, where you can browse the Colombian food village, enjoy Colombian music and see the biggest Tall Ship in the world, ARC Gloria. Free. Summer Party Animal Antics!, Little Angel Theatre, 1pm to 5pm, Sunday 6 September 2015

Little Angel Theatre has its summer party on Sunday inspired by its upcoming production of The Journey Home which highlights how some of the worlds most beautiful creatures are in danger of extinction. There will be puppet making, storytelling, cakes and performances. Free. More details here

Discover Indonesia, Southbank Centre, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2015

Go along to the Southbank Centre this weekend for two days celebrating Indonesia with music, puppetry, dance, talks, food and workshops. The

Southbank Centre’s famous and much-loved gamelan (Javanese percussion orchestra), artists and ensembles from the UK will also appear throughout the weekend alongside special guests. Free. More details here
