This weekend it’s getting all Christmassy with huskies, Santa, festive crafts, LEGO creations and more…

Meet Santa and his huskies, London Wetland Centre, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2015

Get into the festive mood this weekend at London Wetland Centre. Children can go for a husky sleigh ride, visit Santa or enjoy a donkey ride. Then make a beeline to the elves’ workshop for craft activities. On Sunday there will be Fullers Shire Horse dray rides from 12pm to 3pm. Husky sleigh rides, donkey rides and the elves workshop are included in the normal admission cost (£10.43 for adults,  £5.72 for children, under 4s free). Visits to Santa cost £6 extra. Horniman Museum Christmas Fair, 10.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2015

It’s the Horniman’s annual Christmas Fair this weekend. Expect the usual Farmers’ Market (Saturday only), Christmas Markets, Christmas trail, Santa’s Postbox, face painting and balloon modelling, fairground rides and Christmas crafts. On Sunday there will also be local choirs singing popular festive songs. Free. More details here

Festival of Culture, Islington Square, 10am to 10pm Saturday 5 and 10am to 9pm Sunday 6 December 2015

There’s plenty to entertain the locals at the Islington Square Festival of Culture this weekend. Choose from live music, family films, face painting, workshops, street food market, theatre, dance and more. Free. More details here

LEGO Santa Express, Covent Garden, until 29 December 2015

It’s worth a detour through Covent Garden in the next few weeks if only to see this year’s huge LEGO creation The Santa Express. Following on from last year’s Santa and sleigh and the advent calendar and snow globe of previous years, the LEGO creation is made from 500,000 bricks and you can climb in the cab for the perfect festive photo opportunity. Christmas Past, Geffrye Museum, until 3 January 2016

Every year the Geffrye decorates its period rooms in the style of Christmas past. See authentic festive decorations, learn about Christmas traditions and festivities and follow Sam the Dog’s children’s trail. Free. More details here

Gabriel’s Wharf Magical Christmas, Saturday 5 December 2015
