BP Portrait Award, National Portrait Gallery, until 20 September 2015

The annual BP Portrait Award is back at the National Portrait Gallery showing top contemporary portraits selected from almost 3,000 entries. Admission is free. More details here

Foodies Festival, Alexandra Palace, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2015

Foodies should make a beeline for Alexandra Palace this weekend where Michelin-starred and celebrity chefs will be making an appearance alongside workshops, artisan producers and street food a-plenty. Tickets cost £15 for adults, children under 12 enter free.

Greenwich and Docklands International Festival (until 5 July) – the GDIF concludes this weekend. There’s a busy programme of events across varied locations. Check out “Dancing City” events in Canary Wharf and “Global Streets” events in the QEII Olympic Park. More details here

Unsigned London, Shoreditch Park, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2015 – more than 150 talented, but unsigned, artists will take to 4 stages across Shoreditch Park this weekend at Unsigned London. The festival is free and features all types of musical genres. Free. More details here

Southbank Festival of Love (until 31 August) – the Southbank Centre’s summer festival continues with lots of performances and workshops, a riverside beach, the famous “Appearing Rooms” fountains and even Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco at Wonderground on Saturday. More details here

Streatham Festival (4 to 11 July) – there will be art, comedy, Vauxhall City Farm animals, open gardens, tea parties, film, performances, live music and more. Check out the programme here

Leytonstone Festival (1 to 19 July) – it’s the festival launch party on Saturday, plus there’s a host of other activities happening this weekend from bronze foundry pouring to family bingo. More details here
