Pop Up Calligrams, House of Illustration, Granary Square, 2pm to 5pm, Saturday 31 May 2014

The House of Illustration is holding a Housewarming family workshop on Saturday. Calligrams are words that are designed to reflect their meaning. Create a pop-up calligram using colours, collage and paper technology with the expert help of illustrator Toya Walker. Free. More details here.

Big Lunch and Family Fun Day, Stepney City Farm, 11am to 3pm, Sunday 1 June 2014

Take part in Stepney City Farm’s Big Lunch Event on Sunday. Bring a dish to eat together, supplemented with seasonal farm produce. Get crafty with drawing and painting activities and take part in a farm tour to see all the plants and animals. Free. More details here.

The Geffrye Museum’s current exhibition showcases a selection of cutting edge design for the home by both well-established industry figures and emerging talent. A broad range of domestic products, from furniture to wallpaper and textiles, lighting to technology, is on show, including innovative garden furniture outside in the Museum’s garden. This Museum of Childhood exhibition celebrates all things Jacqueline Wilson – her childhood, early career and what inspires her to write. Find out about the inspiration behind some of her best-loved characters and hear how they have changed the lives of some of their readers.
