City Showcase stages its first ever Embankment Summer Market this weekend. There will be designers, artists and makers selling their goods; together with food, live music and a Meantime Brewery Bar. More details here

Family Day: The Factory of Images, Whitechapel Gallery Family Day, 12pm to 4pm, Saturday 30 May 2015

Get inspired by Christopher Williams’ photography with your family. Join a factory-like assembly line to make and transform images. See your pictures projected through a live feed, create a book and experiment with light and shadow using coloured slides and lightboxes. Free. More details here

Oliver Jeffers Week, Discover Children’s Story Centre, until Sunday 30 May 2015

Discover’s celebration of Oliver Jeffers continues this week with Story Builder sessions featuring his most famous stories and Kite Making and Paper Airplane Making workshops. There will also be a visit from Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2015 winner Rob Biddulph with Blown Away on Saturday 30 May. Normal admission cost applies. More details here

Strawberry Hill House Goes Medieval, 11am to 4.30pm, Sunday 31 May 2015

There’s a day of medieval fun at Horace Walpole’s gothic castle in Twickenham on Sunday. Enjoy falconry, hobby horse jousting and maypole dancing. Make prince or princess head-dresses and listen to mystical stories in the shade of the magical woodland grotto. Refreshments available or bring a picnic. Free entry, some activities will be charged.
