What’s on at the weekend? – 3, 4 December 2016

This weekend there are lots of Christmas markets, a Lego creation and circus skills…

Horniman Museum Christmas Fair, 10.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December 2016

The Horniman’s annual Christmas market takes place this weekend. There will be family activities including storytelling and puppet theatre, an arts and crafts market, a Farmers’ Market (Saturday) and mince pies, mulled wine and carol-singing on Sunday at the Bandstand. Free entry, tickets required for the storytelling and puppet show (£5/£4). More details here

Santa’s Lego Workshop, Covent Garden, until 29 December 2016

We look forward to finding out what Lego will build in Covent Garden each Christmas. Last year’s Santa’s Express train was a big hit and this year’s Santa’s workshop looks just as impressive with more than 700,000 bricks. Free. More details here

Christmas Past, Geffrye Museum, until 8 January 2017

Every year the Geffrye Museum decorates its period rooms to reflect festive traditions from the past 400 years. There is a trail for children to help them spot the different presents, decorations, food and entertainment enjoyed at Christmas through the years. Free. More details here

Winter Festival, Southbank Centre

The Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival is in full swing with food markets and more. This weekend it’s all about the circus, with NoFit State Circus workshops, Pram Jam Circus Skills for under 5s and more. The festival and many of the activities are free. Pram Jam costs £5. More details here
