IncrEdibles, Kew Gardens, throughout the summer from Saturday 25 May 2013

Kew Gardens’ summer festival launches this weekend and celebrates incredible, edible plants. Row around a fruit salad boating lake, attend the Rose Garden tea party and visit the kitchen garden to find out about the edible plants in question. UEFA Champions Festival, The International Quarter, Stratford City, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2013

To celebrate London hosting the UEFA Champions League final this weekend, there is a free family festival taking place at The International Quarter, Stratford City, this weekend. There will be family activities, the chance to pose with the UEFA Champions League trophies and to visit the UEFA Champions League museum, football skills stations and the Ultimate Champions match featuring world renowned players (Saturday 25 May, 12.30). Festival ambassadors, including former England players Faye White and Steve McManaman, will also be on hand to meet and greet the fans. Free. More details here.

Lichtenstein: A Retrospective, Tate Modern, until 27 May 2013

It’s your last chance to catch the Lichtenstein Retrospective at Tate Modern this weekend.  The exhibition of Lichtenstein’s colourful works based on comic strips and advertising have proved a big hit with adults and children alike. Tickets cost £14 (adult), under 12s free. More details here.

Horniman Museum, May bank holiday and half term activities

Visit the Horniman Museum this week to take part in a wide-ranging programme of family activities for the bank and half term holidays.  From pond dipping to African drumming, via arts and crafts and Samba dancing, there’s something for everyone. Decode! Detect!, Museum of Childhood, 10.30am to 4pm, Monday 27 May until Sunday 2 June 2013

This week you can become a master of disguise at the Museum of Childhood’s half term workshops. Unravel secret messages at the Cipher Station, make your own secret agent ID card, complete the I Spy trail for your chance to win a prize or attend a storytelling session. Free. More details here.

Incredible Invertebrates, Grant Museum of Zoology, Rockefeller Building, University College London, 1pm to 5pm, 28 May to 1 June 2013

The Grant Museum is celebrating creepy crawlies, bugs and pests this half term. Come face to face with deadly scorpions, beautiful octopi and incredible sea mice. Take part in hands-on specimen based activities and have a go at designing your own insect. Free, drop in sessions. More details here.
