There’s plenty to do in London this weekend if you’re at a loose end.  Head to a street festival, meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar, visit famous London buildings or go to a light-hearted dog show…

Bermondsey Street Festival, Saturday 22 September 2012

Head down to the Bermondsey Street Festival this weekend for food stalls, live entertainment, children’s fancy dress parade, dog show, maypole dancing, wine tasting for the adults, outdoor cinema, a tug of war and more.  Free.  More details here.

Meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Waterstones Piccadilly, Saturday 22 September 2012

Waterstones Piccadilly is hosting a day of activities and story time with The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Saturday.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be making appearances every hour from 11.30am to 3.30pm. Free.  More details here.

Open House London 2012, various locations, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September 2012

Open House weekend celebrates London’s architecture and design.  More than 750 buildings are due to open their doors, alongside a programme of neighbourhood walks, engineering and landscape tours, night-time openings, urban jogs and talks.  Iconic landmarks taking part include 30 St Mary Axe (aka the Gherkin), Heron Tower and Tower 42.  Full details of buildings and events are in the 2012 Guide which can be ordered online. Chiswick House Gardens Dog Show, 10.30am to 3.45pm, Sunday 23 September 2012

The eighth Chiswick House Gardens Dog Show takes place on Sunday on the cricket pitch area within the Gardens.  The fun show will incorporate many novelty classes and a Have-a-Go-Agility feature run by The Dog Coach.  Refreshments will be available from the barbecue and bar.  Free.  More details here.
