What’s on at the weekend? – 15, 16 August 2015

This weekend’s picks – last chance to see gladiators, a giant snail, cheap-as-chips cinema and a baby disco…

Gladiator Games, Guildhall Yard, until 16 August 2015

It’s your last chance to catch the Museum of London’s Gladiator Games this weekend. On the site of London’s only Roman amphitheatre, see an epic re-enactment of London’s gladiatorial games. Performers take to the stage for battle, an Emperor presides and the crowd picks its side. Tickets cost £15 (adults) and £10 (children 5 to 15). More details of times and tickets here

The Giant Story Telling Snail, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, until 30 August 2015

Head to the Timber Lodge Café in the Olympic Park this August, where a gigantic nomadic snail shell has taken up residence. It’s home to two eccentric storytellers, who travel the lands and gather stories as they go. There are storytelling trails at 12pm and 3pm, with reading, colouring and drawing all day.

The snail will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, and every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 2pm. Free. More details here

Kids’ Kino Club, Regent Street Cinema, Saturday 15 August 2015

Check out the newly re-opened Regent Street Cinema at its new Saturday children’s cinema club. Every week the cinema will show a recent release or old favourite on Saturday morning for the bargain ticket price of £1.75. This week you can see the Moomins. More details here
