What’s on at the weekend? – 13, 14 October 2012

Escape the cold this weekend by visiting a museum, gallery or festival.  This week you could go chocolate tasting, celebrate Chanel at the Saatchi Gallery or head to the V&A Museum of Childhood’s latest exhibition…

Modern British Childhood, Museum of Childhood, until 14 April 2013

The V&A Museum of Childhood’s latest exhibition explores how British childhood has changed in the period between the London Olympic Games of 1948 and those in 2012.  The exhibition explores issues surrounding education, health, family, entertainment, fashion and play.  From a pair of 1950s children’s NHS prescription glasses to the 2005 Teddyfone, the exhibition brings together objects that reflect the huge changes that have occurred in children’s lives.  Clothing, toys, books and childcare items will be shown alongside TV and film footage and photography.  Free.  More details here.
