There are festivals happening all over London this weekend, celebrating everything from music and food to sailing and skipping….

Pop Up Festival 2014, Swiss Cottage, 11am to 6pm, Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13 July 2014

Pop Up Festival provides a fantastic programme of storytelling and workshops by top children’s authors, illustrators and poets. Free. More details here

Routemaster Diamond Jubilee, Finsbury Park, 10am to 5pm Saturday 12 July and 10am to 4pm Sunday 13 July 2014

The Diamond Jubilee of the Routemaster bus will be celebrated in Finsbury Park this weekend with more than 100 Routemasters on display. Other attractions including a free circular Routemaster bus service and a nostalgic funfair, as well as a bus pull, various parades and a children’s competition. Free. More details here

Horniman’s Curious Tea Party, Horniman Museum. 12pm to 5.30pm, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July 2014

Join the lovely people at the Horniman Museum for an eccentric weekend of Edwardian inspired dance, music, frivolity and food in the Gardens. See specially-commissioned dance and music performances inspired by the Horniman and its eclectic collections, take part in tea dances, go on a singing treasure hunt, experience immersive fantastical art installations, enjoy ragtime jazz, discover a cabinet of curiosities, meet a giant explorer, see dazzling circus acts and more. Streatham Festival, various venues in Streatham, until Sunday 13 July 2014

The Streatham Festival is back with the theme ‘Street of My Imagination’.  The flagship event ‘Streatham UnCommon’ on Saturday afternoon will feature streets of entertainment, activities and food on Streatham Common. Free. More details here

MUNCH, The Peckham Festival of Food and Culture, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July 2014

Head to Peckham for foodie treats this weekend. There will be food themed stalls, street food traders, a bar, a stage for demos/talks/performances, and a party in the evening. There will also be pop up performances and interactive happenings in shops and venues along the high streets. Free. More details here

Hornsey Music Festival, until 13 July 2014

This year’s Hornsey Music Festival presents an expanded mix of outdoor and indoor events on Hornsey Green and in New River Village, combined with street performances, a variety of stalls and food and wine events. Free. More details here

Round the World Yacht Race, St Katharine’s Dock, Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13 July 2014

Welcome the sailors of the Clipper 2013-14 Round the World Yacht Race back to London on Saturday with a homecoming ceremony at St Katharine’s Dock. A formal procession will take place between 10am and 3pm as the twelve 70-foot racing yachts parade up the Thames to Tower Bridge while enjoying live music, drummers, dancers and international cuisine all in the spirit of sailing. Through & Out: Skipping Extravaganza, Big Dance 2014, Greenwich Park, 11.30am and 2.30pm Saturday 13 July 2014

Devised by choreographer Jorge Crecis, Through & Out: Skipping Extravaganza is a cross-over between dance and rope-skipping. Hundreds of dance-skippers, including professional dance artists and a local community cast from across South East London, will unite with unpredictable outcomes. Free. More details here

Lewisham People’s Day, 12pm to 8pm, Saturday 12 July 2014

Lewisham People’s Day returns to Mountsfield Park on Saturday. The park will be divided into four colour areas, each with its own particular vibe. There will be live music, dance, sports tasters, an under 5s area, art installations, entertainers, carousel, big wheel, community stalls, craft market, food, drink and a funfair. Free. Love Food, Summer Streets Festival, Regent Street, Sunday 13 July 2014

On Sunday, Summer Streets will bring the Love London Food Festival to Regent Street to celebrate London’s best street food vendors, independent and local restaurants, craft beers and drinks. Visitors can keep the whole family entertained with a range of fun activities including a Pimm’s bus and marquee, live music and performances from the City Academy and a picnic area. Free. Bastille Day Festival, Sunday 13 July 2014

For the seventh year running, Bankside and Borough Market are hosting a Bastille Day Festival to celebrate France’s national day with an extravaganza of all things French. The party starts a day early on Sunday 13th July in and around Borough Market. Free. More details here
