What’s on at the weekend? – 12, 13 December 2015

This weekend, we’ve got a roundup of Christmas markets so that you can hunt out some gifts and soak up some festive atmosphere (translation: there’s not much else on, it’s all about the shopping this close to Christmas)…

The Barbican Christmas Market, 12pm to 8.30pm, Friday to Sunday, until 20 December 2015

The Barbican is hosting an alternative Christmas market in December, with over 35 stalls showcasing independent designers and makers. The stallholders change daily and there will be plenty of mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies too. More details here

Crafty Fox Peckham Christmas Market, The Bussey Building Peckham, 11am to 5pm, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December 2015

Check out 50 different designer makers each day alongside creative workshops and a live art installation. Enjoy mulled wine and live DJ sets throughout. More details here

Fair Christmas Fayre, The Regent Hall, 11am to 6pm, Saturday 12 December 2015

The Fair Christmas Fayre offers goods from Fairtrade, handmade, eco and vintage traders. The Fayre supports the Salvation Army’s International Development work. More details here

Stratford East Village Makers’ Market, Saturdays, Sundays and Thursday evenings until 20 December 2015

This year, East Village Stratford is hosting its first ever Christmas Makers’ Market. There will be carefully curated designer makers selling Christmas gifts, together with workshops where you can make your own. More details here

London Bridge City Christmas Market, Tower Bridge, 10am to 8pm, until 3 January 2016

Stretching from More London to London Bridge City Pier, over 100 stalls and food vendors offer all manner of festive fare. There are also family activities – join the Elves’ Trail on 12 December. More details here

Islington Christmas Market, Islington Green, until 20 December 2015

Pick up Christmas gifts from hand-picked exhibitors from across the UK at the Islington Christmas Market. More details here

Southbank Centre Winter Market, until 24 December 2015

The Southbank Centre’s Winter Market chalets sell mulled wine, tasty treats, crafts and gifts from 11am daily. There’s also a roller disco (2015’s alternative ice skating) under Hungerford Bridge and various shows opening in the run up to Christmas. This weekend is Charity Weekend where you can raise money for good causes at a charity auction, emporium, dance marathon and fashion show. More details here

Tate Modern Christmas Market, daily until 23 December 2015

Tate Modern’s Christmas Market is back for a second year with chalets selling festive wares, a Victorian Carousel, a Santa’s Grotto and a fairground ride for little ones. More details here

Winterville 2015, Victoria Park (E9), until 23 December 2015

Winterville is open in Victoria Park throughout December. Entry is free but many of the attractions have an admission cost. More details here

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, until 3 January 2015

The annual Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is back for the festive season with fairground rides, Christmas markets, ice skating and more. Some attractions require tickets (pre-booking recommended), others are free (such as Santa’s Grotto) – you can expect to queue at busy times. Winter Wonderland is open daily from 10am to 10pm.
