V&A Opera Weekender, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November 2017

The V&A has an opera takeover this weekend to celebrate the inaugural exhibition Opera: Passion, Power and Politics in the Sainsbury’s Gallery. Families can join in with a pop-up musical promenade performance through the different levels of the gallery on Saturday. On Sunday, create a Masquerade Mask. Free. Check out the full programme.

Wintertime at Southbank Centre, until 4 November 2017

Wintertime has returned to the Southbank Centre this weekend with a Nordic market full of treats, gifts and festive goodies. Over the next few weeks, there will be free festive events, as well as a full programme of theatre shows for young and old. To top off the Scandi flavour, there will also be an immersive ABBA exhibition. Check out the market, bars and rooftop sauna from this weekend.

Lord Mayor’s Show, from 11am, Saturday 11 November 2017

It’s the annual Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday. Follow the 3-mile long parade as the Lord Mayor sets off on the journey from Mansion House to Westminster and back, as he has for the last 800 years. The festivities will culminate at 5.15pm with a firework display over the Thames. Best viewing points are between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridge. Free.

Celebrate Your City, Museum of London, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November 2017

Drop in to celebrate the City of London this weekend with free workshops and activities exploring new digital technologies. Have a go at coding, create art out of digital footprints using GPS, come up with environmentally-friendly inventions, attend a storytelling session and more. Free.
