We’re spoilt for choice in terms of things to do in London this weekend.  Christmas markets, couture fashion, a baby disco, a sample sale, a Lego advent calendar and more…

Valentino: Master of Couture, Somerset House, until 3 March 2013

It’s unlikely you’ll have missed the recent press coverage of Somerset House’s latest exhibition – Valentino: Master of Couture.  This exhibition celebrates the life and work of Valentino, showcasing over 130 haute couture designs worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow.  Tickets cost £12.50 (adults), £9 (concessions).  More details here.

Christmas Market, National Maritime Museum, 10am to 4pm, Saturday 1 December 2012

Greenwich’s National Maritime Museum will play host to a Christmas market this Saturday.  The festive fun will include stalls selling gifts and food and drink, and a Christmas decoration workshop for the children.  Free.  More details here.

Baby Loves Disco, Sway, Covent Garden, 1pm to 4pm, Saturdau 1 December 2012

Fancy a bit of Saturday afternoon clubbing – with your baby?  Sway is the venue for this weekend’s Baby Loves Disco Christmas Party.  Tickets cost £10 per person, admission is free for non-walking babies. There will be disco fun, a special appearance from Santa and a present for everyone – plus other festive treats.  More details here.

Family day and activities, Geffrye Museum, Saturday 1 December 2012

There’s a family activity day at the Geffrye Museum this weekend where children can get involved in Christmas activities, such as making their own advent wreath and singing along to some favourite carols with The Toots.  Don’t go home without checking out the Geffrye Museum’s Christmas Past exhibition, which sees its period rooms decorated in the style of Christmas past.  Free.  More details here.

Orla Kiely Sample Sale, Truman Brewery, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 December 2012

Still need to pick up some Christmas presents?  Designer accessories, clothes and homeware specialist Orla Kiely is holding a sample sale at the Truman Brewery off Brick Lane this weekend.  Entrance costs £1, proceeds to charity.  More details here.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, 10am to 10pm, until 6 January 2013

Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is in full swing with a Christmas Market, food and drinks, and a whole host of other attractions.  Entry to the site is free but tickets are required for attractions such as Ice Skating, the Giant Observation Wheel, Zippos Christmas Circus and The Magical Ice Kingdom.  More details here.

Reindeer Petting, Covent Garden Piazza, 12pm to 4pm, Saturday 1 December 2012

Want to meet a real-life Rudolph?  There will be reindeer to pet once again this Saturday in Covent Garden.  Whilst you are there, check out the huge advent calendar made of Lego – a door will be opened each day at 4pm from 1 December.  Free.  More details here.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market, 11am to 10pm weekdays, 10am to 10pm weekends, until 24 December 2012

If you’ve not had chance to get there yet, why not try the Southbank Centre Christmas Market this weekend?  Take in the riverside views and Christmas lights while sampling the mulled wine, bratwurst and gingerbread on offer, or just pick up some Christmas gifts.  More details here.
