October Half Term: Tricks and Treats

This week we are posting two suggested activities every day. Each “trick” is a free activity, each “treat” is a paid activity.

Wednesday

Trick – Kids’ Club Cinema

Ok, so it’s not strictly free, but a visit to a kids’ club cinema showing is about as low cost as half term entertainment gets. Most cinema chains do some kind of club – morning showings featuring films released in the last 3 to 6 months (this week’s offerings include The BFG, Finding Dory, Ice Age: Collision Course, The Secret Life of Pets and others). You won’t get the latest releases, but you will only pay typically £1.50 to £2.50 per person. We particularly like the Cineworld at the O2 arena Greenwich where you get 4 hours of free parking included in your ticket. We’ve also enjoyed visits to Kids’ Club showings at Picturehouse and Odeon Cinemas in the past.

Treat – Kids’ Theatre

Children’s theatre is booming in London, with the Unicorn Theatre’s half term show for little ones totally sold out this week. Elsewhere you can still get tickets for Tales from the Shed at Chickenshed Theatre; Let’s Fly and Penguinpig at the Little Angel Theatre; Underneath a Magical Moon at The Albany, Deptford and Daughter of the Forest at Half Moon Theatre. Expect to pay around £6 to £10 per person.
