Keeping cool – London fountains and paddling pools

Inspired by this week’s heat wave, here are some of our favourite London fountains and paddling pools for children to have fun while keeping cool…

Coram’s Fields

The only London park reserved solely for children has some fantastic play equipment, a sandpit, a small farm and a brilliant paddling pool. Details here

Southbank Centre

This year the “Appearing Rooms” installation is back. Its walls of water appear and disappear, soaking innocent bystanders in the process. Details here

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

The Olympic Park has orchestrated fountains and an adventure playground. Details here

Granary Square

A stone’s throw from King’s Cross, this square has over 1,000 choreographed fountains. Details here

More London

On the south bank of the Thames close to Tower Bridge, check out the cooling fountains at More London while catching some free theatre at The Scoop or some sport on the giant screen (Wimbledon, Tour de France etc.). Details here

Brockwell Park

This South London park has a fabulous paddling pool, adventure play area, sandpits and even a miniature railway (Sundays only). Details here
