Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain – Part 4

Horrible Histories is back in the West End. Here’s what we thought when we went to see it this week…

We’re big fans of the Horrible Histories franchise in our house. The kids love all the gruesome facts and silly songs and have picked up all manner of historical info without even noticing they were learning. So, we were very excited to receive an invitation to see the latest stage version at the Apollo Theatre.

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Part 4 explores some of the crazier characters and moments in British history. Meet some mad monarchs, rapping warriors and pongy public servants. The two cast members use their giant dressing up box to morph seamlessly from one character to the next, with plenty of songs, disgusting bits, toilet humour – everything you’d expect from Horrible Histories. It’s silly enough to entertain kids of all ages, but there are plenty of grown up jokes that will have the adults chuckling too.

If you’re squeamish, or don’t approve of poo jokes, this probably isn’t the show for you. Similarly if you’re a big BoJo/Brexit fan, as he gets an honourable mention as proof that Britain’s never been barmier than it is right now. Needless to say, my boys had a blast and did a rap about poo all the way home. #soproud 😂
