Paw Patrol: Pups and the Pirate Treasure – Review by MJ, age 4¾

One of the boys’ favourite pastimes at the moment is pretending to be members of TV’s Paw Patrol, a team of friendly canine heroes that undertakes missions to help out the residents of Adventure Bay. Although the show is a huge hit in our house we very rarely get to see it (we don’t have Sky and the Channel 5 schedule clashes with the school run), so we jumped at the chance this week to review the latest Paw Patrol DVD.

As I’m not really a Paw Patrol expert, our resident TV critic MJ (age 4¾) has kindly agreed to share his thoughts:

Planes 2: Fire & Rescue

The winter cold and flu season has hit us with a vengeance, so what better week to receive a copy of Disney’s Planes 2: Fire & Rescue (just released on DVD) to keep us entertained? OK, so we’ve never actually seen the first Planes movie but MJ loves Cars and Cars 2 and the Planes films are basically a spin-off that continues the franchise in a similar vein. Plus, we’ve been exposed to (and by various means have acquired) so much Planes merchandise over the last couple of years that the main character, Dusty Crophopper, was already a household name for us.

One for the changing bag: Green People Organic Children Sun Lotion SPF25

As we are out and about most days, I always have at least one bottle or tube of high factor sun cream in my bag to slather onto the boys whenever the sun makes an appearance. To date, I’ve generally relied on the big name brands, mostly out of convenience, but I’m always open to new discoveries and so was glad to accept the offer from Green People to review their Organic Children Sun Lotion.

Fisher-Price Apptivity iPhone Case and Free Laugh & Learn Apps

We all know that trying to entertain a baby on a plane, train or even during a meal out can be a challenge. It’s great to have some small toys and books in your changing bag, but sometimes you need to travel light, or your baby gets bored of the same old distractions. It’s at times like these that, like many parents, I’ve resorted to using iPhone apps to keep MJ entertained. We downloaded some great free ones from Fisher-Price when he was quite small (on the recommendation of a friend) and he has continued to enjoy watching and interacting with them over time.
