What’s on at the weekend? – 7, 8 November 2015

 This weekend there’s a Santa’s grotto with real reindeer, kids’ theatre, fireworks and a holiday fair – and what’s more they’re all free!

Christmas Lights and Santa’s Grotto, Duke of York Square, from 2pm, Saturday 7 November 2015

Christmas is coming to Chelsea’s Duke of York Square on Saturday. Tuck into popcorn and roasted chestnuts from Victorian carts from 2pm, visit the face painters and meet real-life reindeer. Then see Santa appear on his reindeer driven sleigh at 4.30pm to switch on the Christmas lights. Visits to Santa’s grotto are free but should be pre-booked. Free. Charity donations welcomed. Blackheath Fireworks, 8pm, Saturday 7 November 2015

One of London’s only free public fireworks displays takes place on Blackheath on Saturday. There will be a funfair in the afternoon and refreshment stalls from 4.30pm. The fireworks kick off at 8pm. Free. More details here

Renegade Holiday Fair, Truman Brewery Brick Lane, 11am to 6pm, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2015

Do some early Christmas shopping at the Truman Brewery this weekend. U.S. designer maker market, Renegade, has amassed more than 200 makers, food and drink stalls and craft workshops for your perusal. You can also visit interactive booths to get custom portraits, personalised cards and more. Free. More details here

Roo in my Suitcase, V&A Museum of Childhood, 11am, Saturdays in November 2015

Half Moon Theatre presents a free show at the V&A Museum of Childhood every Saturday in November. The performance celebrates newness, difference, and friendship, through poetry, songs and interaction. For ages 3 to 7 years. Free, but pre-book online. More details here
