The Foundling Museum featuring Quentin Blake

If, like me, you loved Roald Dahl’s stories as a child (and still do), you’re probably also a fan of Quentin Blake’s unique, spidery illustrations. It may come as a surprise though, to know that Blake recently designed four series of works for hospitals in the UK and France.  The works, which were created to have a therapeutic effect on the residents of the hospitals in question, are being exhibited at London’s Foundling Museum until 15 April 2012.

Olympic Park: visiting with a baby?

If you’re one of the lucky few who secured tickets for the London Olympics this summer, and you’re planning to take your baby along, here’s our take on visiting the Olympic Park. OK, so the park’s not officially open (or even finished) yet, but we managed to get hold of some tickets for the cycling test event at the brand new Olympic Velodrome this weekend and thought we’d share our experience of the facilities so far.

If these names fill you with nostalgia for the toys, books and TV programmes of your youth then you will love a trip down memory lane at the Museum of Childhood.  An outpost of the V&A situated in Bethnal Green, the Museum unites the V&A’s collection of items relating to childhood, both antique and modern.

Westfield Stratford City (when only retail therapy will do)

It’s all well and good setting out on cultural and/or educational babydaytrips, but sometimes only a spot of retail therapy will do.  On those cold winter days where a trip to your high street would mean constantly adding and removing layers as you go in and out of shops, a shopping mall is the perfect solution.  And so we ended up at Westfield Stratford City…
